Notes

Thanksgiving Day, and I’m thankful for a short workday so I can build up a small stockpile of words. I’m going to need them because I absolutely will not be able to write tomorrow (which is why I’m including tomorrow in today’s post).

An important scene where Richard recounts a church field trip with his first girlfriend and summer romance needed to be lovely and it turned out to be. It’s critical because it shows the kind of person he was as a boy, before he suffered years of physical and psychological abuse. If he’s going to get back to somewhere, he needed to come from somewhere, and this scene has ended up doing a nice job of showing where that somewhere was.

I only need 1814 words to be done. I’ve written 500 words about a table before, and although 1814 is bigger than the 1667 words a day required to beat NaNoWriMo, it’s basically just a clearing of the throat for me now. Over the last several days, the book has really started to say what it needs to say and it knows how it wants to say it, so 1800 words is no more than 2-3 hours of work, and I’m off all day on the 30th. See you then!
