We unlock inspiration not by waiting for it but by work. Getting the hands dirty, or the knees, or the keyboard, or the notebook, or the canvas. It may bring financial rewards or it may not. That’s not why we do it: we do it because we can’t NOT do it. We may move the world from abacuses to smartphones or we may simply create one tiny thing that makes the world that much more beautiful or make it make just a wee bit more sense than it did before.
We do it because we want to be set afire so that through our own ashes, we fertilize ourselves and begin the circle anew.
