Story Cubes story on top of Shakespeare: The Man who Pays the Rent by Judi Dench (with Brendan O'Hea)
Story Cubes on top of Shakespeare: The Man who Pays the Rent by Judi Dench (with Brendan O’Hea)

A timeless writer meets a timeless actress. Together they drop Newton’s apples of knowledge, passion, and drama on hundreds of years of people in theater seats. Dame Judi Dench is the woman Shakespeare needed to truly unlock his magic, since men played women’s parts back in the old days.

Today, Shakespeare is the man who keeps the seats filled so the theaters can pay their own rent in an age of binge watching and mindless scrolling. Dench is the short powerhouse whose shadow looms large over his work.

It takes a little imagination to see a side profile of a seat in the cube that looks like an L.

I rarely say this and I’m not exaggerating, but this is one of the best books I’ve ever read. Pick up a copy at your library, at bookshop.org, or on Amazon, wherever you want to, but by all means get yourself a copy. (If you buy on bookshop.org, you support local bookstores. If you buy through that Amazon link, I get a small commission which I donate to charity according to my affiliates policy.)

The comments section is the perfect place for what you came up with. I’m sure you did better than I did this week!
