At a performance of Romeo and Juliet (you know, the one where the birds and the bees happen in the castle), a thunderstorm knocks out the power in the theater. A scream is heard, then footsteps from someone running away in the darkness.

Will they live? Turn to Page 42 for “No.” Turn to Page “Of course they won’t, it’s Shakespeare. Go to Page 42 anyway and see me after class,” for “Yes.”

One of the nice things about being the age I am now is that I’m old enough to have grown up reading Choose Your Own Adventure books, but young enough not to care if kids walk on my lawn.

Wouldn’t it be cool if someone came up with the idea of making one of Shakespeare’s plays into a CYOA book? Ryan North thought the same thing and did just that with Hamlet! It even got turned into a game called “To Be.” I have both the Android version and the Steam version, and it’s also available for Apple and the Nintendo Switch.

What’s the referent for “Will they live?” Is it Romeo & Juliet or the person who was screaming? You choose!

The comments section is the perfect place for what you came up with. I’m sure you did better than I did this week!
