If you don’t know what story cubes are, see the introduction to the story cubes series.
To see the original roll of the story cubes, see yesterday’s post.

For some, the schoolhouse is a magical place that unlocks the secrets of the world, building a lasting bridge that leads to our lifelong hike through knowledge and discovery, making us see that we are bigger and more powerful than we ever thought we could be.
For others, having their eyes opened makes them only see evil.
You can swim in the ocean of the infinite or you can drown in it. The choice is one only you can make.
Originally, I had the top six cubes in a perfect rectangle. I stair-stepped them a skosh in order to make the title into “No Sun” instead.
I’m happy to have this book to use as a backdrop this week because Ethan is a friend of mine, the instructor at my session of the Yale Writers’ Workshop in 2024, and a brilliant writer. You can read more about him and this book at his website.
It’s available on Amazon, but if you prefer to support indie bookstores, I highly encourage you to use Bookshop.org instead. I ordered my copy through Three Lives & Company, a NYC book store that Ethan used to work at. They’re so indie they don’t even have a commerce section on their website, but don’t be afraid to call and order it over the phone if you’re not going to be in Greenwich Village in the near future. They were super friendly when I called and I’m sure you’ll like them too.
A review will be up when I read it, but that won’t be before the end of August. I’m saving this one for my New England vacation, which means if you buy it now, you’ll have a chance to beat me to it!
The comments section is the perfect place for what you came up with. I’m sure you did better than I did this week!

I'd love to hear from you!
