Notes

Last day of the trip, so on the way home I stopped in for dinner and to try writing in public. It started off okay, but not long into the session a group of ten high school kids decided Waffle House at midnight was the place to be. I ended my experiment of writing somewhere where it’s not calm and quiet early and hit the gym on my way home.

Although I haven’t been writing the past couple of days (I’ve spent more time at work than off for the last 48 hours), I have been letting my mind mull over things. I’m still searching for the right way to write Richard. The bigger thing is that there is something in Richard’s past that I’m still trying to decide whether to put in. It’s a huge thing that might damage his image of broken but pure, or it might be something that shows that he made a huge mistake twenty years earlier and it still has mental repercussions.

Normally something big that adds depth and drama is a no-brainer, but the conflict is that it’s out of character for who he is now at 37, but might not have been as a teenager. Usually in November, the idea is to write write write and figure it out later, but this is one of those things that once seen, can’t be unseen.

So we’ll see.
