Notes

Just not feeling well; zero energy. Got to build in slack just for days like these.

It wasn’t all just lack of energy, though. Now that the ending has been written, I realized that I don’t think the preceding book ended with Eileen and Richard dancing together. Ever since the first book, which ends with him asking her to dance, they all end with the two of them dancing—after all, she’s a ballerina, so the best way for him to be extra close is to dance with her.

Sure enough, I was right: it ended with them sitting on a bench in her parents’ back yard, which is a place she used to dance when she was feeling like letting others see her. I added a page to that ending, so I’ve ended up writing two endings to two books in two days, one of which was for a book I thought was done.

That didn’t actually take that long; it was done in less than half an hour. The problem was, whenever I revisit that book, I end up reading huge chunks of it. I absolutely love Eileen’s book. She has such personality, and it takes the reader from age 8 to her current 30, so it shows how it developed. I can’t just dip into that one, so I ended up spending all the rest of the day just reading something I’d already written instead of writing what I should have been.

When I started Richard’s book, I honestly had no idea where I’d be going. I’m happy to say that although I’m nowhere near as absorbed in his story yet, I’m getting there. At least, I would be if I’d actually written anything.
